- Sunday’s celebrations for Ireland’s saint centre on Covent Garden piazza, Leicester Square and Trafalgar Square

BIGGER and better than ever is the promise from organisers for this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Festival, which takes place this weekend in central London.

“It was a fantastic day last year and is set to be even more spectacular this year, with something for all the family, be it traditional dancing, popular music or the Irish Food fair in Covent Garden,” said Norah Casey, one of the Festival’s architects.

St. Patrick’s Day itself isn’t until next Friday, 17th March, but this Sunday sees three of London’s most public areas given over to celebrations for the Irish patron saint.

Trafalgar Square hosts a travel show and music acts including the Hothouse Flowers; Leicester Square gets Ceili music, crafts and a kids area, and Covent Garden is where you’ll find a celebration of Irish food and an acoustic music stage featuring, among others, The Men They Couldn’t Hang.
