|Yoko Ono Beams into St. Paulís|
- New work by artist displayed at cathedral is feature of the City of London Festival
YOKO ONO and St. Paulís Cathedral arenít the most obvious couple in the world, but today they team up to present the artistís recent work, Morning Beams, as part of the City of London Festival.
On show in the cathedralís north transept, Morning Beams uses ropes and pebbles to refer to rays of light shining down onto a river, the spare style of the piece Onoís contribution to the theme of this yearís festival, which is the Cityís historic trading links with Japan.
Also today, this time at the Guildhall Gallery, thereís an exhibition of Japanese culture as made by school children, including illustrated haikus and jewellery, while emerging Japanese artists are busy creating new art at Queen Street.
The City of London Festival carries on for another two weeks, with daily changes in exhibitions and performances, many of them free.
