|Motor Show Back in London with a Bang|
- New features greet cars and visitors in Docklands car extravaganza
SIXTY brands of car, a batchful of new car launches, a purpose-built car-circus theatre and supermodel Jodie Kidd are some of the lip-smacking features on offer at the London Motor Show, which starts today at the ExCel centre in Docklands.
It's the first time London has hosted Britain‘s premier Motor Show for 30 years - Birmingham has had the honour in the interim - and the organisers appear determined to push the boat out for the expected half a million visitors.
"I love cars and driving and I'm so excited to be part of such an amazing show," said Kidd, who is the celebrity face for the event. "There are some very cool features and it's going to be a brilliant day out for everyone."
Among the new car models to be unveiled at ExCel over the next few days are the new-shape Vauxhall Corsa, the BMW M6 Convertible, Land Rover Freelander 2, Honda Civic Type S and Type R Concept and Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe.
The "cool features" referred to by Kidd include a thrills and spills show, which combines theatre, circus and car stunt driving to spectacular effect; Adventure Island, where drivers can book in to try out 4x4 cars over a specially-designed course; a huge shopping section with a bewildering variety of car gadgets, and Sunday's 100 Years of Cars Parade, which promises to do what it says on the tin. On top of all that, the whole thing is air-conditioned. Maybe ExCel can predict the weather.
