Pirate Academy Opens for Business
- Golden Hinde the venue for budding Captain Jacks

Courtesy of Golden HindePIRATES of the Caribbean opens this weekend to much fanfare, but if just watching buccaneers in action on screen isnít enough, you can learn how to become one at the Pirate Academy, which is open throughout the summer.

Among the skills being taught to children aged between four and 13 on the Golden Hinde at St Mary Overie Dock this Saturday are pirate costumery, the pirate code and how to search for hidden treasure.

The Golden Hinde is an authentic reconstruction of Sir Francis Drakeís famous 16th century ship of the same name and, like the original, its successor has also circumnavigated the globe.

Over the next two months, plenty of other skills are to be covered including loading cannons, navigation by the sun and stars and using leeches as a shipís barber-surgeon.

Prices for each workshop are UKP10 for the first child and UKP10 for each subsequent budding little Captain Jack Sparrow, though that doesnít include a kiss from Keira Knightley.
