|George Michael in Drugs Trouble|
- Singer bailed to appear in front of police in late March, after police found him with 'controlled substances'
GEORGE MICHAEL faces being tried for possession of drugs next month.
The singer was arrested on the weekend, spent a night in police cells and was bailed after police say they found both cannabis and GHB in Michael’s Mercedes.
“We were called by a member of the public to a man seen slumped over the steering wheel of a car on the street close to Hyde Park Corner,” said a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police. “A search of the man revealed what was believed to be controlled substances.”
Given the trailing of Kate Moss for her alleged cocaine habit and Met officials' statements that they intend to step up their approach to both celebrity and 'white-collar' drug abuse, it is thought unlikely Michael will be let off with a warning word in his ear.
The next step in the case, say police, is for Michael to appear at a police station in late March after the substances found in his car have been checked.
