KAISER CHIEFS, Coldplay and James Blunt were the main winners at the Brits, held at Earl’s Court last night, bagging seven of the main awards between them.

Kasier Chiefs were top of the pile, wining Best Group, Best Rock Act and Best Live Act, while James Blunt took Best Male Solo Artist and British and International Pop Act.

As well as winning Best Album for XandY and Best Single for Speed of Sound, Coldplay took the informal award of Most Intriguing Acceptance speech when front-man Chris Martin hinted the band would sit out future events. “You won't see us at one of these for many, many years,” he said.
