- RMT plans ballot over pay claim
LONDON COMMUTERS face the prospect of more tube strikes starting later this summer.
The RMT union plans to ballot its 6,500 members who work for London Undeground with a view to strike action over pay, the sacking of a driver and ongoing claims of harrassment. The union is also unhappy with LU's move to make the latest pay offer - 4 per cent this year - part of a four year deal.
"LU are insisting on a rigid four-year deal that our members told us they will not accept." said Bob Crow, GMT General Secretary.
The proposed industrial action would follow a series of strikes since Crow took charge of the union in February 2002.
