- Robert Lindsay kicks off ‘world first’ acting marketing push
LIVE adverts in theatres around the world are the latest ploy to drum up more tourists for London.
The first three-minute live-ad is to be staged at the Comedy theatre tomorrow (Thursday) night before a performance of Steptoe and Son in Murder at Oil Drum Lane and will star Robert Lindsay, who said:
“I am pleased to lend my support to an initiative which promotes our city on stages around the world.”
Other cities involved in the first stage of the scheme include Dublin, New York and Philadelphia. The ads will be adapted to fit in with the shows they precede, such as Mamma Mia!, Saturday Night Fever and Stomp.
“This is a highly creative way of leveraging this unique platform to connect with potential visitors to London and we are proud to spearhead this world-first," said James Bidwell of London tourist group Visit London.
