Remember the Thieves of November
- Government warns against Bonfire Night burglaries

LONDON householders have been warned by the government to make sure they lock up their houses while attending Bonfire Night celebrations this weekend.

Clapham Common and Southwark Park are among the venues for major public fireworks displays tonight, events which draw tens of thousands, but the certainty of lots of people leaving their homes at the same time appears to be of considerable interest to the thieving fraternity.

Insurance claims for household thefts rise by around 25% on the 5th November, a Home office spokesperson revealed.

"Always lock your doors and all accessible windows," said Roger King, the Home Office's regional crime director for London.
