Most Improved Schools Are in London
- Annual gradings hand top three league table spots to capital

LONDON area schools have grabbed the top three places in the government's annual national Most Improved Schools charts.

At number one stands Stepney comprehensive Sir John Cass Foundation and Redcoat Church of England Secondary School. The school's achievements appear to be as long as its name, since over the last four years, it has improved performance in key exams by 47 per cent.

Second spot was taken by Dagenham's All Saints Catholic School and Technology College, which posted a 44 per cent rise, just pipping the small Guru Nanak Sikh Voluntary Aided Secondary School in Hayes, which posted a 43 per cent improvement.

In other education results, London's schools tended to reflect the relative wealth of their areas with leafy Richmond coming top of the league both in the capital and across England and east London Hackney still at the bottom.
