New Production Of Brand
- Fiennes gives Ibsen a makeover

RALPH FIENNES takes the lead in the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Brand. Ibsen's classic play opens June 4 at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.

Brand builds on Fiennes' experience acting in the RSC's productions of King Lear and Love's Labour's Lost. He is best known for roles in films like The English Patient and Wuthering Heights, although his most recent performance was opposite Jennifer Lopez in Maid in Manhattan.

Fiennes' forthcoming stage performance is as a hero forced to make some tough decisions. Brand's focus on the conflict between faith and human will makes a fitting swansong for artistic director Adrian Noble. After much deliberation over how to restructure the Royal Shakespeare Company, Noble retires as Fiennes takes to the stage.
