| Britain the Sweetest Country in Europe
- UK is top of the candy-consumption league BRITISH people guzzle more sweets and candy than any their counterparts in the rest of Europe, according to a new survey. On average, sweet-toothed Britons munched their way through UKP23.12 worth of candy each last year for a grand total of UKP1.37 billion, a whopping 23 per cent of the European non-chocolate confectionery market. Britons also lead the way in Europe for chocolate consumption. "This is a worrying figure," said a spokesperson for the British Dental Association, whose members stand to gain the most from our addiction to sugary delights. "Sweets are treats - their intake should be sensible." |
