Rocket Trip for South London Old Woman
- Pensioner Lipscombe and artist McGowan ready for lift off

PERFORMANCE artist Mark McGowan is to fire an old woman out of a rocket on Wednesday.

McGowan shot to fame last year when he rolled down a pavement for half a day in an innovative attempt to highlight the issue of politeness to cleaners.

This time round, he is keen to raise people's awareness of old-age pensioners. "I saw this man being pushed over in the road and couldn't believe it," McGowan said. "This guy knocked him down because he was in his way."

Aida Lipscombe, the old woman subjecting herself to rocket propulsion outside Camberwell College of Art, agrees that there is a lack of respect for old folk.

"There are lots of people who push in front of queues and see the elderly and barge them out of the way," the 71 year-old said. "We are all going to be there one day. I want people to acknowledge we have as much rights as them."
