Master Builder Reconstructed
- Ibsen classic back on stage

THE MASTER BUILDER opens tonight at the Albery theatre. Ibsen's drama stars Patrick 'Star Trek' Stewart and Sue 'The Royal Family' Johnston in a tale of love and betrayal. Like all the classic playwright's work, the story focuses on a character who is living in denial and is therefore ripe for redemption.

The play concerns a self-satisfied man whose sense of achievement is undermined by the return of a beautiful woman from his past. Her claims that he promised to marry her threatens the stability of his family as secrets unearth themselves and the subtle drama builds towards its climax.

Stewart builds on the 11 years spent training with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Although his roles as Jean Luc Picard in Star Trek and Professor Xavier in the X-Men films have earned him wider recognition, stage performances yielded him an Olivier. "It is wonderful to be back on the English stage... this is actually my West End debut," said Stewart.
