Death of the Dome Agreed
- Stadium and homes to replace Greenwich mega-tent

THE FUTURE of the Dome is finally settled after London Mayor Ken Livingstone rubber-stamped plans for a new sports stadium plus 10,000 new homes.

That means the Dome itself will be pulled down rather than redeveloped as an events arena as some rival plans had envisaged.

Livingstone had threatened to block the stadium and homes scheme unless a higher proportion of affordable residences were included. Developers Meridian Delta have now agreed to double the number of such homes to 4,000.

"This will help meet the capital's pressing need for more affordable homes," Livingstone said.
