Queen in London Tourism Boost
- Legoland's Buckingham Palace is first on list of royal trips

THE QUEEN visits Legoland today as part of a Royal leg-up for British tourism.

Her Majesty will see a Lego model of Buckingham Palace on the trip, complete with moving guards and ceremonial music. Legoland is just a couple of miles from one of the Queen's main residences, Windsor Castle, itself just outside London.

Later in the day, the Queen is due to visit some of London's museums before hosting a dinner at the real, non-Lego Buckingham Palace for luminaries in the UK tourist industry.

While the Queen is boosting London, other royals will be in different parts of the country to help push tourism in such places as Scotland, Wales and the north of England.

UK tourism has been hit in recent years by a succession of events including 9/11, the foot and mouth disease, the Iraq war and SARS, as well as worldwide recession. Some estimates put the drop in revenue from visitors at 20%.
