Brook Bites Back
- Experimental show receives recognition

PETER BROOK returns to the Young Vic August 27 with his production of The Suit. The South African township drama plays at the theatre of its 2001 premier.

The Suit focusses on the relationship between a married couple and a suit. The tale of infidelity takes a woman's adulterous affair as its starting point, beginning when a man catches his wife making love to another man and starts to obsess over the suit her lover leaves behind.

Brook consolidates the reputation forged by his productions of Midsummer Night's Dream and his film versions of King Lear and Lord of the Flies. He started his career as a theatre director at the Royal Shakespeare Company before developing more avant garde reworks of classic texts. The Suit marks a return of the Paris-based director to the town where he honed his craft.
