Queen Hosts Kids Tea Party
- Event marks 50 years since coronation day

A CHILDREN'S Tea Party in the gardens of Buckingham Palace is the highlight today as the Queen celebrates 50 years since being crowned.

Keen observers might have spotted huge Golden Jubilee celebrations taking place in Britain last year, but these marked the immediate start of the Queen's reign following the death of her father in 1952. Today's events commemorate 50 years since the Queen's actual coronation.

The afternoon Tea Party, which the Queen will throw for 500 poor children, is to feature fairground rides and circus entertainment of the kind prevalent 50 years ago including a carousel, clowns and jugglers.

Before that, Her Majesty will attend a service of thanks at Westminster Abbey.
