Kylie Gives Bums Rush to the Academy
- Minogue piece removed from Summer Exhibition

KYLIE MINOGUE has withdrawn her bum from the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition.

On the grounds of copyright infringement, the singer's lawyers have forced the Academy to take down one of its headline pictures - Consumerism 2 - which featured Minogue's rear end.

"Why a global star like Kylie Minogue should feel threatened is beyond me," said Consumerism 2 artist Dilek O'Keefe.

O'Keefe's piece has a front view of Minogue painted in a cartoon style in a pose that echoes the anguished figure in Edvard Munch's The Scream. In the background stands Minogue's bum, rated the most shapely in the world in many a celeb magazine survey. At the bottom of the picture the word 'talent' makes either a sarcastic or supportive comment, according to taste.

It is unclear which reading Minogue herself favours since her lawyers have forced the work's removal on legal, copyright, grounds rather than on any aesthetic argument.
