- Sloane Square theatre entertains new companies
TOLD BY AN IDIOT premier their latest production at The Royal Court from 1 September. The ten-year old theatre company's premier of Playing the Victim is a collaboration with the longstanding venue. Come November the theatre company Out of Joint also bring their latest production to the Royal Court producing house.
Playing the Victim concerns a man whose job is to play the victim in police crime reconstructions. In faking death daily he seeks to avoid the real end of his life. Scripted by brothers Oleg and Vladimir Presnyakov, the production builds on the Russian writers' past successes during the Royal Court's international theatre season.
By contrast Out Of Joint's production of Duck comes to the Royal Court as part of a national tour. Artistic director Max Stafford Clark made his name running the Royal Court before moving on to champion his own company. Unlike Told By An Idiot's experimental show, Duck looks set to honour the reputation for well made plays honed by Stafford Clark's former employers.
