| Mayor to Sack Top Tube Managers
- Livingstone takes control with a bang TUBE bosses will be culled by Ken Livingstone during the next few weeks as the London Mayor takes overall control of London Underground. Livingstone says he is likely to kick out up to ten senior managers and put another ten on probation - a move that was expected given the Mayor's many previous statements on what he sees as the poor management team at London Underground. Whoever he appoints to replace the banished executives is unlikely to enjoy much of a honeymoon period thanks to the huge amount of engineering work that needs to done on the Tube system, work that will lead to the partial closure of some lines for many months. "There's no way this is going to be easy," said Livingstone. |
