Party Time For Old Vic
- Celebrities go wild at Spacey's bash

KEVIN SPACEY celebrated his new job as artistic director of the Old Vic theatre company with a fundraising party last night. The event raised around UKP500,000 and treated those willing to pay UKP1,000 a ticket to an array of celebrity performances.

Courtney Love stole the show with a raunchy performance of Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me. Fresh out of jail following arrest for swearing at cabin crew on the Virgin Atlantic flight that brought her to London, the Hole singer relished the chance to strip in front of a starry audience including Virgin chief Sir Richard Branson.

Other acts included Craig David, Lulu and Sting. Spacey also won applause for an impersonation of Sir Elton John so convincing that the removal of his robe and wig shocked the audience. Judging by his performance, the actor-director's first season of plays set for 2004 promise to breathe new life into the Old Vic.
