Simpsons Invite for Blair
- PM set to make appearance on cartoon sit-com

TONY BLAIR is rumoured to be close to signing up to appear in The Simpsons.

Downing Street didn't deny the rumours yesterday and it is thought the British Prime Minister will make a guest appearance, in cartoon form, in the cult show, probably after any Iraq war.

American Presidents George Bush Snr. and Bill Clinton have both turned up in The Simpsons and both have felt the full force of Homer Simpson's quick-temper and son Bart's pranks. However, another former president, Gerald Ford, was found to have much in common with Homer. British celebrities in the show are usually painted in stereotypical colours, with posh accents, impeccable manners and bad teeth.

Taken together, this evidence would suggest Blair will be portrayed as a polite and charming fellow who gets on well with Marge and Lisa but who somehow falls foul of Homer and Bart, perhaps for leaving uneven teeth marks in one of Homer's favourite doughnuts.
