World Trade Centre Remnant Comes to London
- US Embassy to bury girder underneath Memorial Garden

A GIRDER that once formed part of New York's fallen World Trade Centre is to be buried outside the American Embassy in London.

The embassy is creating a Memorial Garden on nearby Grosvenor Square to honour those who died when terrorists guided two jumbo jets into the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001, killing 3,000 people.

The girder will be buried underneath the garden, which will feature a pavilion and plaques listing the names of all those linked to Britain who died in the attacks. The Memorial Garden is due to open on September 11, 2003, the second anniversary of the fall of the World Trade Centre.
