New Journey for West End
- Shared Experience stage Passage to India

PHYSICAL THEATRE company Shared Experience stage A Passage to India this Autumn. Though the West End venue is not yet confirmed the premiere dramatisation of EM Forster's novel is scheduled for September 19.

Shared Experience have produced new versions of classic novels like The Magic Toyshop, Anna Karenina, Mill on the Floss and Jane Eyre. Their background in staging literary adaptations prepares them for the task of dramatising Forster's classic. A Passage to India is a culture-clash of a story set at the height of Britain's control over India, and tells the tale of a girl who falls for India just before marrying an Englishman.

Shared Experience artistic director Nancy Helm takes to the helm for this concoction of new writing, movement and devised work. Helm works with writer Martin Sherman, who builds on the success of his last West End hit, Bent. As ever Shared Experience's production marks theatreland's move from text based theatre towards more collaborative stage stuff.
