South Bank Gets Revamp Money
- Royal Festival Hall handed UKP15 million

SOUTH BANK redevelopment took a step forward today with the announcement of UKP15 million in National Lottery cash to help refurbish the Royal Festival Hall.

Chief Executive of the South Bank scheme Michael Lynch called the lottery award "an important milestone," though it represents only a portion of the estimated UKP60 million the whole redevelopment package will cost.

The Royal Festival Hall is the main concert and performing space on the South Bank and its revamp will form the centrepiece of the continuing redevelopment of the whole area. Work is planned to begin on the Royal Festival Hall in 2005.
