Show Seeks Dead Body
- Real corpse request condemned as tasteless

THE GRIM REAPER has so far turned down an invitation to take a starring role in a controversial new play.

"We are looking for a real corpse for our performance - but no-one has come forward yet," said Matthew Scott of the 1157performancegroup, based in Maidenhead, to the west of London.

Scott explains that his group's play, Anaesthesia, concerns cultural attitudes to death and that having a real live corpse on stage would aid understanding. "We are attempting to address the fear and confusion surrounding death and dying," he said.

Unsurprisingly, Death is not the only one to have given the play a wide berth. Local reaction has been mostly hostile, even from Maidenhead's undertaking community. "The whole thing is very tasteless," said local undertaker Karin Lewis. "A corpse is not just a piece of meat."

The Grim Reaper himself was today unavailable for comment and was believed to be on his way to Iraq.
