Golden Jubilees In Theatreland
- Queen attends The Mousetrap on double 50th anniversary

THE QUEEN attends the Mousetrap Monday November 25th. Her Golden Jubilee coincides with the 50th anniversary of the world's longest running show. A Royal Gala performance of Agatha Christie's whodunit will play to Prince Philip and former cast members as well as the Queen.

The Mousetrap began as a 30 minute radio play called Three Blind Mice. It opened at the Ambassadors Theatre November 25 1952 and can now be seen at St Martin's theatre. A young Richard Attenborough headed the original cast, which has consisted of 320 actors and 150 understudies over the years.

The drama concerns an assortment of guests and a detective intent on accusing one of them of murder. Christie's classic has been translated into 24 different languages and played to a total of 8,500,000 theatregoers. Originally written as a birthday present for Queen Mary, the show comes of age with its forthcoming gala performance.
