125th Street Goes the Distance
- New musical extends its run

125th STREET has extended its West End booking at the Shaftesbury theatre. The brainchild of Buddy duo Rob Bettinson and Alan James is booking four months longer than anticipated, until April 2003.

The show taps into the current craze for talent-search TV shows likes Pop Idol. Featuring a different newcomer each night, this musical about making a musical revels in the antics of wannabees keen to make it big. The show returns to 1969 and the pre-moon landing buzz for a 1960s style extravaganza.

In particular the 'Search for a Star' spot that thrived in the West End forty years ago has been recreated. Amateurs hoping for their big break are selected from nationwide auditions to appear on stage for one week each. Mean time those keener to see than be seen in 125th Street can take advantage of the 2 for 1 tickets available until November 30.
