|Spencers 'Hopping Mad' With Diana's Butler
- Family found Diana 'unacceptable, Says Burrell
PRINCESS DIANA'S family are said to he "hopping mad" at accusations made by former butler Paul Burrell.
Burrell, described as "my rock" by Diana, is today reported as saying, "the Spencers found Diana unacceptable in life. Isn't it ironic how she suddenly became acceptable in death?"
In a wide-ranging attack, Burrell hits out at the the most well-known members of the Spencer clan. Diana's sister, Sarah, says Burrell, was filled with jealousy, even saying "I thought all this would be mine one day," on the day Diana married Prince Charles; Diana's mother Frances Shand Kydd, he says, made abusive late-night phone calls to her daughter, and Diana's brother Charles is in Burrell's estimation a "hypocrite" for making a fawning funeral speech.
The Spencers are understood to be livid with Burrell's revelations. "Someone very close to the Spencers made it clear that they are hopping mad and take issue with practically everything Paul Burrell has said," reported the BBC.
Burrell's testimony could change the way in which the Princess's life and death are remembered. Until now, the Spencer family has mostly been seen in press and popular imagination as on Diana's side against the cold and callous Royal family. According to Burrell, the opposite was the case.
