| King Lear Reigns Supreme
- The RSC Academy strut their stuff THE RSC Academy stages King Lear at the Young Vic from October 23 to November 9. The company dedicated to training young actors in the ways of the bard was formed shortly before artist director Adrian Noble announced his plans to leave its Barbican base. Now the uncertain future of the company looks likely to depend on the performances of these aspiring thesps. The RSC's efforts to age gracefully certainly strike a chord with the play's focus on the perils that attend Lear in his old age, and the real challenge will be for a youngster to play the part of a crotchety old man. But those who like actors to act their age may prefer Lear at the Camden People's theatre July 2-14. LondonNet's own Helena Thompson has updated Shakespeare's classic by recasting old man Lear as an aging editor plagued by the demands of his ambitious employees.
