Robinson: Americans Are the Weakest Link
- Quiz show presenter finds intelligent life scarce in US, especially in the Oval Office

WEAKEST LINK presenter Anne Robinson has hit out at Americans in general and US President George Bush in particular after her show was dumped by NBC.

"You have to remember that only 5 per cent of Americans have passports. That explains a lot," said Robinson.

The British journalist-turned-TV star might be accused of biting the hand that feeds, as the US version of Weakest Link earned her a mega-bucks pay deal. Okay, Weakest Link has now been axed due to falling ratings, but Robinson has another show - Test the Nation - coming on US TV screens in the near future.

Even on that subject the famously grim-faced presenter was keen to put down Americans. "The real test will be whether they can concentrate for an hour," Robinson said.

Robinson also put the boot into US President George Bush. "I saw Bush at a concert actually waving to Stevie Wonder," she said. "Someone had to tell him: 'He can't see you'." Perhaps more seriously, Robinson says she was banned from relating the incident on US chat shows. "After September 11, you had to act as if Bush was Einstein," Robinson said.
