Aitken Makes a Comeback
- Maria returns to the West End

MARIA AITKEN returns to the West End from June, replacing Felicity Kendal in Charlotte Jones's Humble Boy at the Gielgud Theatre.

Humble Boy tells of an astrophysicist's attempt to come to terms with the death of his father. The show currently stars Simon Russell Beale as the stroppy son perturbed by the romances of his mother, played by Kendal. Aitken will star opposite Adrian Scarborough when the cast changes, and draws on her experiences performing in a great many West End hits.

Aitken's stage hits include The Vortex at the Garrick in 1980 and Hay Fever at the Albery in the 1990s. She has also starred in film hits like A Fish Called Wanda. The award-winning Humble Boy, a modern reworking of Hamlet, offers Aitken the chance to combine her understanding of the classics with a passion for new drama.
