Mendes Brings Latest Hit to the West End
- Kenneth Lonergan comes of age in Lobby Hero

THE DONMAR's production of Lobby Hero transfers to the West End's New Ambassador's Theatre from June 26th. Poached by the canny Sam Mendes as part of his American Imports season at the Donmar, the play finds a new lease of life for 8 weeks at the New Ambassadors Theatre.

The tale of laid back doorman Jeff and his moral dilemmas looks likely to secure Lonergan his second hit of the year. Like his feted This Is Our Youth, currently playing at the Garrick theatre starring Matt Damon, Lonergan's latest looks at slacker ideals and the fine line between honesty and foolishness. Even with Gwyneth Paltrow in the lead of Proof, the next Donmar production, Lobby Hero will be a tough act to follow.

With two smash hits under his belt, young Lonergan seems set for far greater things than any of his characters. "One thing I desperately want to write about is the idea of pissing your youth away with the wrong activities," says Lonergan.
