Water on Tap for Drugged-Up Clubbers
- Government moves to encourage safety measures

CLUBBERS could soon be provided with free water, wind-down rooms and cool air after the government published its ideas for safer clubbing.

Dehydration is often the effect of illegal drug use and sometimes the cause of death, so the Home Office is keen to get clubs to make available water on demand, rather than charge over the odds for the stuff of life in a plastic bottle.

There is unlikely to be any compulsion behind the government's scheme, but club owners would do well to follow the advice given a big rise in recreational drug use by clubbers in recent years.

Official figures suggest drug use by the population at large has tailed off, but among clubbers has exploded, thanks mainly to a collapse in the price of ecstasy and cocaine.
