Diana Nude Scene Cut
- Channel 4 opera shelves plans for male fantasy shots

A DREAM sequence featuring a nude Princess Diana has been cut from a TV opera on the life of the tragic royal to be screened by Channel 4 later this year.

In the opera a man was to have have dreamt of meeting Diana and seeing her disrobe before fondling her body. Now that scene has been cut by C4 bosses on the grounds of 'taste'.

"The nude scenes in the first draft were in poor taste. I know Channel 4 may have a reputation for doing sensational things but this was not appropriate," said C4 commissioning editor Jan Younghusband. "The scene showed the man fantasising about Princess Diana. It was cut because it was not right for the opera. The story is about a family travelling to London on the day of Diana's funeral."

Still in the latest draft is footage from a security camera showing Diana and her lover Dodi leaving the Paris Ritz before their famously fateful drive, though a full-on reconstruction of the crash has now been shelved.

The opera screens this August in commemoration of the fifth anniversary of Diana's death.
