Material Girl Up For Grabs
- Theatre goers prepare for Madonna

MADONNA is to make her West End debut in a new Australian comedy. Up For Grabs opens at the Wyndham's Theatre May 23, replacing the award-winning The Play What I Wrote.

David Williamson's new play broke box office records when it premiered in Sydney in February 2001. Directed by Laurence 'Joe Egg' Boswell, the London premiere looks set for success. A satire on the world of modern art, Up For Grabs concerns an ambitious young woman's schemes to manipulate her greedy clients into over-bidding for a Jackson Pollock work

Madonna last took to the stage 13 years ago in David Mamet's Speed-The-Plow, where she played the ambiguous role of Karen, the femme fatale secretary who throws the film business into disarray. Her film credits in the likes of Evita, A League of Their Own, Body of Evidence and Dick Tracy should stand her in good stead for the role of flashy art dealer.
