New Number From Caryl
- Churchill's play comes to Royal Court

CARYL CHURCHILL's latest play opens at the Royal Court on September 12. Stephen 'Billy Elliot' Daldry returns to the venue where he made his name, to build on his success directing Churchill's last West End triumph, Far Away.

Churchill herself remains reticent as ever to discuss her work. But Daldry's involvement suggests that A Number is a departure from earlier naturalistic hits like stage play Serious Money and radio drama The Ants. Like Far Away, A Number promises to be a politically charged distortion of time and space.

Churchill will doubtless be hoping to trump the success of her recent West End revival, Top Girls. Daldry, on the other hand, has yet to top the success of his 10 year old An Inspector Calls, which recently closed at the Playhouse Theatre.
