Queen Musical Tops Theatre Charts
- Box office buoyant despite critical mauling

A BIG split has opened up between theatre critics and theatre goers over We Will Rock You, the musical festooned with Queen songs.

Critics gave the show, which features a storyline about a future world where rock 'n' roll is banned, a mauling, but audiences have piled in to see it, making We Will Rock You London's top selling show over the past month.

The show, partly written by Ben Elton, and partly backed by Robert de Niro, has now taken UKP4 million at the box office in just five weeks and has received standing ovations every night since it opened. We Will Rock You's run has now been extended to spring 2003.
