Rod Gets Royal Dressing Down
- BBC camera crew kicked out of Ascot enclosure after Queen spots casual clothes

ROD STEWART and a BBC camera crew were fallers at the first at Royal Ascot yesterday, after being turfed out of the Royal Enclosure for being improperly dressed.

"Rules are rules and if they haven't got the right attire, then they can't come in," said the steward who reined in Rod.

Rod was with current girlfriend Penny Lancaster, at 31 some 26 years younger than her stallion, and was dressed in a pale blue suit rather than the top hat and tails required for the Royal Enclosure.

The BBC crew, who were filming at the time, did manage to get into the exclusive enclosure but their casual clothes were spotted by the Queen herself, who informed staff. "Some of the camera crew were more informally dressed and we apologise if this caused offence. We will ensure it does not happen again," said a BBC spokesperson.
