Bombay Dreams Opens to Ticket Worries
- Lloyd Webber admits lack of advance sales

TICKET sales have been disappointing for Bombay Dreams, the new Andrew Lloyd Webber musical that opens tonight at the Apollo theatre.

"We don't have the huge advance bookings of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or the Queen musical," admitted Lloyd Webber, who has been developing the Bollywood style musical for three years at an estimated cost of UKP4 million.

On a positive note, Lloyd Webber compared the advance sales to those of Cats, which went on to become one of the most successful musicals of all time. "It's about the same as when Cats began and no-one had any idea what it was all about," he said.
