Bourne Again Christmas
- British choreographer revamps the Nutcracker

MATTHEW BOURNE takes on the Nutcracker for the English National Ballet and the Royal Ballet this Christmas. Nutcracker! plays at Sadler's Wells from November 20.

The reworking of Tchaikovsky's famous score is also a reworking for Bourne, whose 1992 production of The Nutcracker was nominated for an Olivier Award. This time round Bourne collaborates with designer Matthew Ward, fresh from his Chitty Chitty Bang Bang success. Like Bourne's more recent hits, Cinderella and Swan Lake, Nutcracker! draws on a host of literary and movie references as varied as Oliver Twist and Busby Berkely.

Nutcracker! marks Bourne's first production for his new company New Adventures. Next up at the National is a co-production with New Adventures called Play Without Words. Expect the unexpected from the former founder of Adventures in Motion Pictures.
