Bombay Dreams For RSC director
- Steven Pimlott looks to AR Rahman

BOMBAY DREAMS opens June 19 at the Apollo Victoria, with RSC director Steven Pimlott at the helm. Taking the lead from artistic director Adrian 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' Noble, Pimlott has set his sights on West End fame. His collaboration with AR Rahman of Bollywood acclaim looks set to take London by storm.

Other big names attached to the production include musicmeister Andrew Lloyd Webber, who has this time left the lyric writing to Don Black and plumped for the the role of producer. Indian director Indhu Rubasingham, tipped for success in LondonNet's Theatre Features interview, supports Rahman in the role of associate director. She draws on her love of Bollywood movies and her experience directing a sizeable cast in the Ramayana to bring this ensemble piece to life.

And to top it all, Preeya Kalidas joins the cast fresh from her success in the footballtastic Bend It Like Beckham. The new musical's focus on love and ambition within the magical Indian movie business sounds like no less of a crowd pleaser, and promises to revolutionise the British musical industry. Bombay Dreams could be the West End's new Cats on the block.
