Geldof's Rat Pack Backs the Pound
- Stars line up to campaign against Britain using the euro

BOB GELDOF is to lead a posse of stars campaigning against Britain joining most of the rest of Europe in adopting the euro currency.

Along with the former Boomtown Rat, comedians Harry Enfield and Rik Mayal and TV presenter Jools Holland are to star in adverts urging British people to vote to keep the pound when the issue is put to a referendum, probably next year.

The celebrities are apparently keen not to be marked down as the kind of Little Englanders often associated with the anti-euro campaign. "You know it's not anti-European to be against the euro," Geldof says in a cinema advert to be screened for the first time tonight.
