| Potter Spell Broken at Baftas - Rings lords it over rival wizard movie in nominations stakes HARRY POTTER failed to cast a spell over the judges of the Bafta Awards (Britain's Oscars) when it was beaten in terms of nominations by a number of other films. Fantasy rival Lord of the Rings picked up 12 nominations, five more than Harry Potter, and the same as musical Moulin Rouge. Worse still for the Christopher Columbus directed Potter movie is the fact that most of its nominations come in the less glamourous technical categories. Other films to figure large in the nominations included French hit Amelie and the highly regarded Gosford Park, which opens this week, billed as a return to top form by director Robert Altman. The Baftas will be held on February 24 |
