London in Top Five Most Expensive Cities List
- Property and pound behind the surge

LONDON is now number five in the World Most Expensive City charts, rising from eighth place two years ago.

The continuing strength of the pound is the main factor in this rise, coupled with climbing property prices that have knock-on effects, through high rents, on most other prices.

Beefy property prices are also at the heart of the high cost of living in cities above London in the newly published Economist Intelligence Unit charts, those being Tokyo, Osaka, Hong Kong and Oslo.
