Fly the Tram to London
- New Heathrow-Hammersmith link planned

VISITORS to London are to given another option when travelling from Heathrow Airport to central London.

Plans for a new tram link between the busy airport and Hammersmith have been unveiled and are based on a line running down the A4 road, a thoroughfare wide enough for most of its length to cope with the scheme.

It is envisaged trams would run every six minutes on the UKP290 million route, providing an alternative to the high speed rail link that links Paddington station with Heathrow and London Underground's Piccadilly line.

Tram schemes have also been mooted for the nearby Uxbridge Road, Oxford Street and various parts of east London, though none has so far got much further than the drawing board. London does have one tram system up and running, Tramlink, which serves Croydon and Wimbledon.
