Madonna's Ray of Light for West End
- Theatreland set to celebrate biggest coup of all

MADONNA is like a virgin when it comes to the theatre, but the Queen of Pop is apparently considering a offer to tread the West End boards.

If the advanced pre-production talk were to be finalised, Madonna would be the biggest name to hit Theatreland for years, even allowing for the stream of Hollywood stars that have appeared at London venues in recent years, and would help revive a West End hit by a post-September 11 drop in ticket sales.

"Madonna is keen to put on a show because it's a new departure for her and because she has come to love London," said one industry insider.

There was talk of Madonna appearing in Cat On a Hot Tin Roof three years ago, but that fell through. This time around, the preferred option is said to be a production written and designed for her specific talents.
