Gwyneth Lined-Up for London Stage
- The Donmar makes a play for Paltrow

GWYNETH PALTROW looks set to appear in David Auburn's Proof at the Donmar this March. Negotiations are still underway, but artistic director Sam Mendes' reputation for wooing A-list celebrities makes Paltrow's forthcoming stage debut a likely story.

Paltrow follows in the footsteps of former Donmar sensation Nicole Kidman. In fact Kidman planned to follow her debut in The Blue Room with a role in Proof, and despite a split from Cruise which put her stage plans on hold, says she still favours London over LA as a place to raise children.

Whichever American beauty graces the Donmar takes the lucky Simon Russell Beale as their stage partner to act as father and daughter in a tale of youth sacrificed to mental degeneration. Proof is part of Mendes' final season, fittingly entitled American Imports.

Paltrow's latest movie, Shallow Hal, is released in London today.
