IMAX to Get More Hollywood Movies
- Deal brings big films closer to the biggest screens

LONDON'S IMAX cinemas could end up showing major movie releases at the same time as their mainstream rivals thanks to a deal being made in Hollywood.

IMAX are to team up with The Creative Artists' Agency, which takes care of Tom Cruise, Gwyneth Paltrow and other stars, as a first step towards brokering deals with major movie-making companies.

"We believe this relationship opens up new avenues to a number of our clients," said Richard Lovett, the CAA chief.

Already Disney have agreed deals with IMAX so that Disney's new film Treasure Planet will be shown at IMAX venues in the US on the same day as ordinary cinemas. Similar plans are likely to come to fruition for London's IMAX cinemas.

Previously the cost of converting movies to the much bigger IMAX format have proved prohibitive but a new digital technique has cut costs dramatically.
